Beverly (Seals) Newsom July 13, 1947 – May 14, 2020

Beverly (Seals) Newsom, 72, of Dalton, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, MO on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 2:30 P.M.  Father Boniface will officiate the service.  Visitation will be held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.  Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, MO.

Beverly was born on July 13, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Wallace and Ida (Manea) Seals.  Beverly graduated from Northwestern High School in Mendon, MO in 1965 and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.  On January 4, 1969, she was united in marriage to James Newsom at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, MO.  Together they were blessed with two children, Angela and Bryan.

After college, Beverly worked in the banking industry in Kansas City and Fort Worth. After moving back to Dalton, Beverly sold newspaper ads for the Brunswicker, and later started teaching for the Brunswick RII School District as a special education instructional assistant.  Beverly worked at Brunswick RII for 29 years until she retired in 2013.  After retiring she would substitute for the school district and would continue to do so until her passing.

Beverly was a member the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, MO, a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, Dalton Home Builders, PEO, Sigma Phi Gamma, a 4-H leader, active in the Brunswick Booster Club, and the treasurer for St. Boniface Catholic Church.  She also chaperoned multiple trips with students to Europe and Washington D.C.  Beverly loved planting flowers, working in the garden, sewing (especially baby blankets), traveling, reading, attending shows at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO, going to the movies, wineries, and the occasional trip to the casino.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband of the home, James; her two children, Angela Kussman and her husband John of Kansas City, MO and Bryan Newsom and his wife Stacee of Grain Valley, MO; five grandchildren, Hunter Newsom, Mallory Kussman, Ben Kussman, Carson Newsom, and Colby Newsom; and one sister, Janice McCoppin and her husband Lynn of Florida.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Ida Seals, and sister, Janet Bennet.

Pallbearers will be Rick Manson, Schuyler Manson, Sam Johnson III, Bill Hayes, Danny Renner, and Steve Harmon.  Honorary pallbearers will be her five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or to the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure Foundation.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
