Wanda (Buckles) Spurlock December 4, 1919 – October 27, 2019

Wanda Lenore (Buckles) Spurlock, 99, of Brunswick, MO, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Etheridge House Assisted Living in Union City, TN.

Wanda was born on Thursday, December 4, 1919 in Willow Springs, MO, the daughter of Claude H. and Delma (Johnson) Buckles.  Wanda graduated from Triplett High School in 1937 in Triplett, MO.  She attended Triplett Christian Church as a teenager.  For a number of years she lived in Kansas City, MO working as a clerk and secretary in Federal Reserve Bank.  On April 13, 1963, Wanda married John B. Spurlock in Kansas City, MO.  John preceded in death on June 22, 1982.

After John’s death she moved to Brunswick, MO.  She was a member of the Triplett Christian Church, the Veteran’s Auxiliary, and her beloved Senior Center at Sherry’s.  She enjoyed camping and traveling many miles with Loners on Wheels.  She loved her pets as well as everyone else’s.

Funeral services were at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO at 1:00 P.M. on November 2, 2019 with Gail Brown officiating.  Burial was in McCullough Cemetery in Triplett, MO.

Pallbearers were John Shannon Thomason, Claude Christopher Buckles, Hunter Claude Buckles, Howard Johnson, Glen Blunk, Shawn Malter, Chris Buhman, Wendell Turner, Greg Nolting, and Lynn Duvall.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; her brothers, Firman and his wife, Sara, Claude Jr. and his wife, Opal; her sister Melba; her niece, Sara Marjorie and her husband, Billy Cooper; and her cousins, Francis Johnson and Ruth Blunk.

Wanda is survived by her niece, Janice (Buckles) Thomason and her husband, John, of Rayville, LA; her nephews, Claude Larry Buckles and his wife, Rita, of Union City, TN, Don E. Buckles of Houston, TX; her cousins, Howard Johnson and his wife, Pat, of Sumner, MO, Colleen Johnson of Brunswick, MO, and Glen Blunk and his wife, Joyce, of Lee’s Summit, MO; she is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Triplett Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
