Dale O. Kuhlman March 13, 1926 – February 1, 2019

Dale O. Kuhlman, 92, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO. Funeral services will be held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Full military honors will immediately follow the service (outside of the funeral home). Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Burial will be in the City Cemetery in Brunswick, MO.

Dale was born on March 13, 1926 in Dalton, MO, the son of Pearl and Clara (Kolas) Kuhlman. Dale grew up with seven siblings, Bernice Carmen, Ruby Marie, Ruth, Arthur, Margie, Dale, Tom, and Norma. ​He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1944.  Dale played center for the Brunswick basketball team and was a team captain.  Dale was proud of his high school basketball career and would share his stories with anyone who would listen.​

In 1944, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army.  After completing his basic training, Dale was shipped overseas with the Army 84th Infantry Division, Rail Splitters.  He served on the front lines in the Battle of the Bulge. Dale was awarded the Purple Heart, Victory Ribbon, EAMET Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.​  Dale honorably served his country until 1946.

After returning from WWII, Dale married the love of his life, LaVerne Muegge, and they were blessed with two children, Randolph and Connie.  Dale worked at Strub’s Buffet in downtown Brunswick, MO for his uncle and aunt, Julie and Elizabeth Strub.  He then worked for many years as a carpenter.  He loved fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, arguing with friends, working in his garden, and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Brunswick American Legion Post #7 and was a volunteer firefighter for the Brunswick Fire Department.

Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LaVerne, an infant daughter, Mary Sue, his daughter-in-law, Paula Kuhlman, and five siblings, Bernice Carment Krehbiel, Ruby Marie Kuhlman, Ruth Anderson, Arthur Kuhlman, and Margie Churchill. ​

Dale is survived by his son, Randolph Arnold Kuhlman of Brunswick, MO; his daughter, Connie Duvall and husband Lynn of Madison, MO; four grandchildren, Randolph Arnold Kuhlman, Jr. and wife, Amy; Renee Pearman and husband Chris; Stephen Lynn Duvall and wife, Angela; Lena Marie Morris and husband, Dustin. Dale is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Cambelle, Mason, Collier, Chesney, Jenna, Taylor, Ashlynn, Audrey, Skyler, and Brooklynn; his brother, Tom Kuhlman of Moberly, MO; and his sister, Norma Cook Smith of Columbia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Duvall, Chris Pearman, Randolph A. Kuhlman, Jr., and his brothers from the Brunswick American Legion Post #7.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Brunswick Christian Church or the Brunswick American Legion Post #7.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
