Victor O. Dankert May 15, 1922 – September 8, 2018

Victor O. Dankert, 96, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Brunswick Nursing Home in Brunswick, MO. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brunswick, MO on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Drewitz officiating. Visitation will precede the service on Thursday from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Burial will be in the Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, MO.

Victor “Vic” was born May 15, 1922 in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Minna (Mewes) and John Dankert.

Victor graduated from high school in Chambers, Nebraska in 1940.

In 1941 Victor went to Los Angeles, CA to work for the Lockheed Air Craft Manufacturing Company.  In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served in the Pacific Theater of  operations with the 5th Air Force.  He served in New Guinea, Leyte Island and Luzon Island in the Philippines.  He also served in Okinawa Island and Japan.  He received his honorable discharge in 1946.

In 1946 and 1947 he attended the Kansas City School for Watchmaking.

On February 20, 1949 he married Arloa Lenz in Boonville, MO.  To this union, two children were born, Sherry and Steve.

In 1953 Vic and Arloa moved to Brunswick, MO where they operated a jewelry and gift store until 1990 when they retired.

While in Brunswick, Vic was active in community affairs.  He served as a board member of the Lutheran Church for many years, served on the Brunswick City Council for a total of 25 years, including one term as Mayor, served as a board member for Public Housing, and served as a board member for Elliott Grove Cemetery.  Vic was one of the founders of the Brunswick Nursing and Rehab facility and served on the board for several years.  Vic also took an active role in the Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Arloa, his son, Steve, and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Dankert of Riverside, MO; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Dankert of Brunswick, MO; his grandson, Blake Dankert of Kansas City, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Gunn, Paul Manson, Kevin Hennosy, Darin Walker, Blake Dankert, and Todd Lenz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Family Choice.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
