Susan G. (Keim) Meyer April 17, 1960 – April 24, 2018

Susan G. (Keim) Meyer, age 58, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born to August and Edith Keim on April 17, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was known to her family and friends by many names but “Sue” was the most common.
Sue is survived by her son, Brian Matthew Ely, of Springfield, Missouri, and her daughter, Brittany Marie Meyer, of St. Louis, Missouri; Other family members include her brother, Ed Keim, wife Tina Keim and kids Wendy and Aaron, her sister, Ruth Shaffer, husband John Shaffer and kids Rachael and the late Michael, her sister Cindy Hunter, husband Bob Hunter and kids Sarah and Adam, her brother Phillip Keim, wife Cyndi Keim, and many other extended family members and friends.
Although she was born in St. Louis she and her family resided a short distance out of the city in House Springs, Missouri until her sophomore year of High School at The Fox C-6 School District. While in Junior High volleyball became “her sport” and surprisingly, to some who know her clumsiness, she was quite good.
In 1976 her family moved to the Ivy Bend area of Stover, Missouri. It was there on the family farm she developed her love for the outdoors and gardening. A passion that only grew stronger over time. Eventually, Sue moved to Laurie, Missouri where she enjoyed the lake life, sun bathing and enjoying good company out on the water. About 8 years ago she needed a change and decided Sedalia would become her home. And a great move it would prove itself to be.
Once settled in Sedalia, Sue decided she would continue her education and what better subject for her to study than Horticulture. She went on to receive her Horticulture degree along with many other degrees having realized how much she loved to learn. While in college she developed a love for ceramics finding yet another passion. And boy did she have a keen eye for finding beauty in clay.
Sue was a beautiful woman in many ways. She was a loving Mother, sister and Aunt, loved and appreciated by her family and friends without bound. Her children were her world showing that in every hug and memory they shared. Everything she pursued was done with passion. Undoubtedly, she worked and played hard; she approached her education with vigor and created her art with honesty and her own special pizzazz. And when Sue supported others, she gave of herself completely. She was a beacon of light on life’s pathway for those she cared for and loved.
A celebration of life will be held at Allen Farm, Green Ridge, MO, on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the ceramic and horticulture departments at State Fair Community College. Donations may be made at the memorial service or mailed to SFCC Foundation Attn. Karen Simon, 3201 W. 16th St., Sedalia, MO, 65301. Please write “in memory of Susan Meyer” in the memo line of the check.
