Mary Frances was born on July 20, 1944 in Indian Grove, MO, the daughter of Charlie and Helen (Westhoff) Clavin. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1962. On January 2, 1965, she was united in marriage to Wendel Fox at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, MO. Together they were blessed with six children, Greg, Sheri, Julie, Kathy, Nancy, and Beverly. After 18 years of marriage, Wendel preceded her in passing on May 2, 1983.

Mary Frances was a lifelong farmer, a homemaker during her kids’ youth, and later held several cooking and cleaning jobs throughout the community. While her kids were growing up, Mary Frances ran a small dairy business selling fresh cows’ milk, handmade butter and cottage cheese for many years after Wendel gifted her her first milk cow as a birthday gift. After his death, she ended the dairy business to allow her to obtain full time employment. She was the cook at the Chariton County jail until her retirement at the age of 70. This allowed her to make many law enforcement friends from all parts of the state. Her cookies and brownies were a favorite of highway patrolmen and friends working in the courthouse. Although she will be remembered by many as a good cook, she was best known for her kindness to others. Having gone through many trials in her own life, she was able to give support and comfort to others who needed it. Her kindness, true compassion and unwavering Catholic faith is the legacy she leaves behind. She was a dedicated member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Indian Grove, MO. She served on the St. Raphael Church Council, the St. Raphael Cemetery Board, and was a Chariton County Democratic Committee Woman. Mary Frances loved sewing, quilting, cooking, working on the farm, and spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the most precious were times spent with her on her farm.

Mary Frances is survived by her six children, Greg (Tammy) Fox of Garden City, MO, Sheri Fox of St. Louis, MO, Julie (Mike) Jones of Moberly, MO, Kathy (Mike) Harlan of Salisbury, MO, Nancy (Thad) Davis of Gardner, KS, and Beverly (Paul) Henke of Salisbury, MO; eleven grandchildren, Jesse Fox, Evan (Kelly) Fox, Derek Fox, Katy Harlan, Holly Harlan, Maddie (Josiah) Starnes, Gus Davis, Shelby Davis, Garrett Davis, Callie Henke, and Dawson Henke; and ten great-grandchildren, Stryker Fox, Wynter Fox, Silvia Fox, Theo Fox, Graham Fox, Leah Fox, Morgan Fox, Benjamin Starnes, Jonathan Starnes, and Lily Starnes.

She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Helen; her beloved husband, Wendel; her brother, Richard Clavin; and one granddaughter-in-law, Whitney Fox.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Fox, Derek Fox, Evan Fox, Gus Davis, Garrett Davis, and Dawson Henke.
