Harriet Lee (Ferguson) Gilkeson February 20, 1932 – September 27, 2023
Harriet Lee (Ferguson) Gilkeson, 91, of Brunswick, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Brunswick Nursing & Rehab in Brunswick, MO. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Jacksonville Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
Harriet was born on February 20, 1932, in Lowry City, MO, the daughter of Glen Arthur and Josephine Lee (Richardson) Ferguson. In 1950, she graduated from Osceola High School in Osceola, MO. On July 26, 1951, Harriet married the love of her life, Kenneth Gilkeson, in Bentonville, AR. Together they were blessed with one son, Michael.
Harriet worked at the White Rogers thermostat factory in Brunswick, MO until they closed, worked as a medical technician at Brunswick Nursing & Rehab in Brunswick, MO, Harvey’s Pecans in Dalton, MO, and worked as a home health aide in Chariton County.
Harriet was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brunswick, MO and a member of the RV Nuts Camping Club. She loved spending time with her family and friends, camping, and doing crafts.
Harriet is survived by her son, Michael K. Gilkeson and his wife Toni of Salisbury, MO; grandchildren, Michael W. Gilkeson and his wife Lauren of St. Louis, MO, Sarah Lee Ann Asbury and her husband Clint of Salisbury, MO, and Stacey Gilkeson of Warrensburg, MO; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Gilkeson, Clayton Asbury, Lucas Asbury, Jackson Gilkeson, and Tyler Gilkeson; and one sister, Joyce Barnes of Lowry City, MO.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Kenneth; her parents, Glen and Josephine Ferguson; one brother, Gene Ferguson; and one brother-in-law, Jack Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Gilkeson, Sarah Asbury, Olivia Gilkeson, Clayton Asbury, Lucas Asbury, Jackson Gilkeson, Tyler Gilkeson, and Stacey Gilkeson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to Hometown Homecare Hospice. Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
