Glyn David Norris September 10, 1945 – August 24, 2023

Glyn David Norris, 77, of Brunswick, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, MO.  A private family burial will be held at McCullough Cemetery in Triplett, MO at a later date.

Glyn was born on September 10, 1945 in rural St. James, MO, the son of Lester and Naomi (Groves) Norris.  In 1963, he graduated from Northwestern High School in Mendon, MO.  On November 15, 1965, Glyn enlisted into the United States Air Force.  During his time of service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  Glyn honorably served his country until February 17, 1969.

On December 9, 1977, Glyn was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alma Beesack, in Brunswick, MO.  After 41 years of marriage, Alma preceded him in passing on July 15, 2019.

Glyn worked at and later managed various agricultural facilities from 1969 until his retirement in 2015.  After his retirement, Glyn worked for the Brunswick, Triplett, and Bowling Green townships.  Glyn was a volunteer firefighter for several years and was a member of the Brunswick Christian Church.

Glyn loved doing anything to make people smile and laugh and thought that it was important to not take life too seriously.  He loved tinkering in his shop, restoring Minneapolis Moline Tractors, fishing, and attending tractor pulls.  He enjoyed serving as the “Captain” of his boat for his family during the summer and turning his home into a spectacle of lights during Christmas time.  He also enjoyed simple pleasures like putting puzzles together, swinging on the front porch, and bird watching.   The way Glyn lived his life was an example to all who interacted with him to slow down, enjoy the little things, and never stop laughing.

Glyn is survived by his children, Jerry and Shawn Cox of Shawnee Mission, KS, Vicki and Meredith Manson of Brunswick, MO, Robin Ker of Independence, MO, Marty Norris of Brunswick, MO, and Jamie and Kristy Ker of Lee’s Summit MO; fourteen grandchildren, Brandon Cox, Nocholas Cox, Dustin Cox, Danielle and Jeremy Miller, Nichole and Danny Hohenberg, Tyler and Debbie Barnett, Paula and Tom Burkhart, Gaylene and Tom Hesse, Bre and Chase Lucas, Chelsea and Karsten Henry, Brayden Norris, Sophia Ker, Miles Ker, and Maddox Ker; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Domann and Wilma Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Naomi; his beloved wife, Alma; his daughter, Tammy Harmon; two brothers, Bennie and Hysel; and one grandson, Simien Ker.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Brunswick Christian Church.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO 65236.
