Charles Owen Richardson September 15, 1941 – May 25, 2023

Charles Owen Richardson, 81, of Brunswick, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Brunswick Nursing and Rehab in Brunswick, MO. Memorial services will be held at the Brunswick Christian Church in Brunswick, MO, on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. Mark Schuchmann will officiate the service. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the basement of the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Burial will be held in Elliott Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Charlie, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on September 15, 1941, in rural Brunswick, MO, the son of Paul and Halcy (Swan) Richardson. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1959. On June 9, 1968, Charlie married the love of his life, Llenell Rhoades, at the Baptist Church in Brunswick, MO. Together they were blessed with three children, Tara, William, and Matthew.

Charlie was a lifelong farmer, was a substitute school bus driver for Brunswick, Keytesville, and Mendon for several years before becoming a full-time bus driver for Brunswick, which he did for 15 years. He also was an oil truck driver for Roy Minks and then Wayne Smith.

Charlie was a member of the Brunswick Christian Church in Brunswick, MO, Arrowhead Saddle Club, and a member of Missouri Farm Bureau. He was very active in the community and served as the trustee of the Brunswick Christian Church for 20 years, the trustee of the Brunswick Township Board, and the Secretary/Treasurer for the Rural Fire Board for 50 years. Charlie loved watching his granddaughter’s sports and other activities, loved the outdoors, working on the farm, volunteering, and watching old westerns.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of the home, Llenell; his three children, Tara Richardson of Columbia, MO, William Richardson and his wife Amie Schmidt of Brunswick, MO, and Matthew Richardson of Brunswick, MO; two grandchildren, Addilynn and Emery Richardson; one sister, Dorothy Stuebben and her husband Chris of Columbia, MO; his mother-in-law, Joann Becker of Brunswick, MO; and two nieces, Dr. Paula Stuebben and her husband Tim Bach and Suzanne Stuebben and her husband Don Hinshaw, all of Columbia, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Halcy, and his father-in-law, Willis Rhoades.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shaun Reichert, Shawn Meyer, Ronnie Vaughn, Will Vaughn, Brian Stephens, Josh Engelbrecht, Matt Swan, Michael Swan, Jason Widhalm, and Sam Igo.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Brunswick FFA Alumni, Brunswick Christian Church, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
