Patricia Eileen (Rowland) Potter July 13, 1936 – February 5, 2023
Patricia Eileen (Rowland) Potter, 86, of Mendon, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline, MO. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church in Mendon, MO on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. Mark Carter will officiate the service. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery in Mendon, MO.
Patricia was born on July 13, 1936 in Sumner, MO, the daughter of Arvel “Dewey” and Aletha (Maupin) Rowland. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1954; during her high school career she was selected for Missouri Girls’ State. Before marriage she attended business school and worked at a financial institution. On November 25, 1956, Patricia married the love of her life, Gene Potter, at the Methodist Church in Sumner, MO. Together they were blessed two sons, Kim Wayne and Wiley Dean.
Patricia was a lifelong farmer and homemaker who loved spending time surrounded by her family and took particular delight in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending her family’s many sports and musical activities, where she was always first to arrive so she could get the best seat in the house. Patricia also enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, reading, gardening, working on the farm, and taking care of the family business. She was a member of the Jolly Community Helpers Club.
Patricia is survived by two sons, Kim Wayne (Karen) Potter of Mendon, MO and Wiley Dean (Melody) Potter of Mendon, MO; five grandchildren, Elyn Gayle (Eric) Huntsucker of Liberty, MO, Nathaniel Wayne (Nicole) Potter of Mendon, MO, Michael Gene (Emily) Potter of Leavenworth, KS, Ryan Dean (Mandy) Potter of Mendon, MO, and Samantha Ann (Zeb) Wallace of Ozark, MO; she is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene; her parents, Arvel Sr. “Dewey” and Aletha; and two siblings, Arvel Rowland Jr. and Mary Kaye.
Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Potter, Michael Potter, Ryan Potter, Zeb Wallace, Eric Huntsucker, Elyn Huntsucker, and Samantha Wallace.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Mendon Cemetery. Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
