Sarah Frances (Woolston) Breshears December 27, 1929 – August 31, 2022
Sarah Frances (Woolston) Breshears, 92, of Brunswick, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Big Bend Nursing Home in Slater, MO. Funeral services will be held at Breshears Memorial Chapel in Brunswick, MO on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Hubert Shaw will officiate the service. Visitation will precede the service on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, MO.
Sarah was born on December 27, 1929 in Miami, MO, the daughter of James and Trixie (Pence) Woolston. She graduated from Miami High School in 1947. Then in 1948 she attended the Kansas City Business College in Kansas City, MO. That same year she began working as a secretary for Ridge-Spellman Insurance Agency in Kansas City, MO and worked there until June of 1951. On July 7, 1951, she was united in marriage in Miami, MO, to the love of her life, Harold Dean Breshears.
Sarah, Harold, and their two sons, Larry and Don, lived in Saline County until moving to Brunswick in December of 1965. Harold was the parts manager at Woolston Brothers Implement Company and Sarah worked as the bookkeeper. While raising two children in Brunswick, Sarah would help with the PTA, Sunday School, Classroom Mother, Cub Scouts, and was always a supporter of the Brunswick sports teams.
In March of 1971, Sarah was hired as the administrator and bookkeeper of the Grand Chariton Manor, which later became the Brunswick Nursing Home. She served in both positions for over 24 years. After leaving the nursing home in 1995, Sarah was hired as the receptionist at the Grand River Medical Clinic. She worked there full-time until her retirement in September of 2003 and continued to fill in at the clinic for several more years when needed.
Sarah was a lifelong member of the Brunswick Baptist Church. She dedicated her time to helping with vacation bible school, playing piano at church services, youth group, and would always bring food whenever there was a church dinner. Sarah was also very active in supporting the Brunswick Pecan Festival and in 2000, she was honored with being the Grand Marshall in the festival.
Sarah is survived by one son, Donald Breshears and his wife Reyne of Brunswick, MO; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Breshears of Brunswick, MO; five grandchildren, Abby Samek and her husband Jim of Brunswick, MO, Megan Breshears of Columbia, MO, Brandon Breshears of Brunswick, MO, Miles Breshears of Brunswick, MO, and Tyler Breshears and his wife Lindy of Dalton, MO; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Samek, Mason Samek, and Westen Breshears; one brother, Dale Woolston and his wife Pat of Warsaw, MO; and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harold; an infant daughter, Karen Sue; her son Larry; one brother, Nelson Woolston; and four sisters, Helen Hoogenakker, Lois Issac, Anna Mary Srader, and Betty Jo Ammon.
Pallbearers will be Miles Breshears, Tyler Breshears, Gary Woolston, Randy Woolston, Gene Ammon, and David Link. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Breshears, JR Reichert, Jan Casebolt, Ron Srader, and Wayne Thoeni.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Brunswick Baptist Church or Elliott Grove Cemetery. Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
