Dr. Sally Lynn Hubbard October 11, 1937 – July 29, 2022

Dr. Sally Lynn Hubbard, 84, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home in Keytesville, MO.  A celebration of life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Keytesville, MO on August 8, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.  Pastor Jim Robinson will officiate the service.  A private family burial will be held at Keytesville City Cemetery at a later date.

Sally was born on October 11, 1937 in Saline County, MO, the daughter of Thomas and Zettie (Sneed) Hubbard.  She graduated from Keytesville High School in 1955, Columbia Christian College in 1957, and received her medical degree from University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1966.  From 1966-1967, Sally had an internship through the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital.  In 1968 she began her career in family medicine at Missouri State University and continued to work at the University until her retirement in 2012.

Sally was a member of the University of Missouri Jefferson Club, the Founder’s Club at Missouri State University, a member of Eastern Star in Keytesville, MO, a founding board member of the Dred Lula Finnell Trust, and a member of the Buffalo River Company.  In 2016 she received the president’s medallion from Missouri State University, in 2018 she was the Grand Marshall at Sterling Price Days, and in 2020 she became an honorary FFA member in Keytesville, MO.  She was baptized in the Christian Church in Keytesville, MO, was a member of the Unitarian Church in Springfield, MO, and later attended the Methodist Church in Keytesville, MO.  Sally was a dedicated physician who loved taking care of others.  She was an avid reader, a philanthropist, and a good steward of the environment.  Sally would often be found spending time with friends, gardening, river rafting, camping, and kayaking.  Sally said that her heart was always in Keytesville.

Sally is survived by her caretakers, who she thought of as family, Angela Stapleton, Stacci Meyers, Bobbi Helm, Wende Wright, and Chris (Rhonda) Hughes; her close friend, John Thomson; and she was also survived by several cousins, Sonny (Sherry) Shive, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hubbard and their daughters, Reagen and Sally Hubbard, Ingrid (Tracy) Durbin, Heidi Hubbard, and Betty Lou Ferkenhoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Zettie Hubbard, and her close friend, Sue Ann Hughes, and cousins, Linda Sue Powell, Bill and Margo Hubbard, and Dr. Robert Cal Hubbard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Angela Stapleton, Stacci Meyer, Bobbi Helm, and Wende Wright.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Keytesville City cemetery or the New Hope Cemetery.  Donations may be left at or mailed to Breshears Memorial Chapel, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO, 65236.
